Danish Children spend too little time outdoor

Sep 07, 2015

A survey carried out by the research institute TNS on behalf of The Danish Society for Nature Conversation shows that children spend too little time outdoor. At least that is what almost 50% of the parents think. According to them their children should spend more time outdoor and they blame it on too much time in front of the computer and even the bad weather. Also busy lives and careers prevents the parents from taking their children out to the playground, according to the survey, that also indicates that parents living an urban life with busy careers do not have the necessary time to be with their children in nature.

As a comment to the survey, Søren Andkjær, Associate Professor of Institute for Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics, University of Southern Denmark, says that it is important for the children to come out and move. Children develop their motor abilities identity and social competencies.
